All payers, suppliers and healthcare providers will begin using the first round of revisions to ICD-10-CM October 1, 2016. These changes will account for nearly 2,000 new diagnosis codes and revisions to approximately 400 existing codes.
AHPCS anticipates payers may require more specific ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes from healthcare providers and suppliers. As part of this preparation and based on payer guidelines, AHPCS is required to obtain more medical documentation from you to adequately substantiate your patient’s medical necessity for the products we supply.
